This peripatetic teaching service provides language and curriculum support for bilingual pupils in Aberdeen City Schools. Immediate response is offered to schools who should contact us on enrolment of a bilingual pupil. Free service, available to those pupils attending Aberdeen City Schools.

    • Your child is entitled to have his/her English learning needs assessed and the right level of support to be arranged. The EAL Service responds to referrals from schools by assessing the pupil, advising on materials and consulting and supporting staff. Primary and Secondary Beginner's Groups are taught twice a week either in their own school or at the EAL Service at Sunnybank Primary School. Pupils with basic and improved competence in English are taught in the classroom from P1 to S6. Staff may guide Secondary pupils to follow the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualifications route.
