Ashton Vale Primary School breakfast club runs Monday to Friday from 8am to 9am.

Children access the club, which is now held in the hall, via the car park entrance.

Mrs Thomas and Mrs Tonkin run the breakfast club and are also employed in school as Learning Support Assistants. Both members of staff are first aid trained and carry enhanced CRB checks. This means that your children are in very capable, well trained hands.

The children are offered a variety of activites including football, dodgeball, dressing up, board games, art & craft , den building together with seasonal activities which may include cooking.

Breakfast is served between 8am and 8.30am and will include toast, healthy cereals, fruit and yogurt. Children are encouraged to sit to the table to eat and to clear their plates away.

Whilst the vast majority of children attending the club do so on a regular basis, we are able to offer places to children for one off occasions, if for example you have to leave early to attend a course. Simply call in at the office prior to the day you wish your child to attend and complete a booking form.

Don’t forget you get :

* An hour of high quality supervision
* Activities
* Breakfast

All for the amazing price of £3 per session.

We have a newly refurbished and purpose designed setting, which is lovely, spacious and light, and there is even under floor heating in the messy play area. As an ex-design & technology teacher, I’m passionate about art, craft, and making things, including woodwork, baking, sewing and all art, and messy play. We used to run a craft cafe in Portishead which is where to had such fun with children's craft activities and parties. After this we both wanted to retrain to work with small children. I qualified this year as a Montessori Early Years Teacher, and we are both registered childminders. The Montessori philosophy offers a wonderful structure to support children’s development, self confidence and independence. We both adore children and we are loving this new adventure which, can only get better and better as we explore more opportunities, like Forest School in the woods of Arnos Vale, and the nature reserve, growing vegetables and cooking our own produce with the children. This is more than a job, it's a privilege to be observing the children developing new skills, in a happy playful environment.

We offer 8am-1pm and 1pm-6pm sessions - £6.50per hour for the whole day, £7.50 per hour for half-days. Please get in touch for full details

Out of School Activities

The school is fortunate in having members of staff who are willing to give up their free time to provide additional activities for the children’s benefit out of school hours, either at lunchtime or after school. It is hoped that parents will co-operate in allowing their children to take advantage of these additional learning opportunities by encouraging them to attend meetings and practices regularly. Subject to interest and to the availability of staff there are normally many opportunities for various sporting and musical activities as well as drama and computer activities.

If children are required to stay after school they will either be told a regular day each week or told the previous day so that parents will know that children may be home later. If an after school activity is cancelled, we will inform you using our school text messaging service.
