Out of School Activities

The school is fortunate in having members of staff who are willing to give up their free time to provide additional activities for the children’s benefit out of school hours, either at lunchtime or after school. It is hoped that parents will co-operate in allowing their children to take advantage of these additional learning opportunities by encouraging them to attend meetings and practices regularly. Subject to interest and to the availability of staff there are normally many opportunities for various sporting and musical activities as well as drama and computer activities.

If children are required to stay after school they will either be told a regular day each week or told the previous day so that parents will know that children may be home later. If an after school activity is cancelled, we will inform you using our school text messaging service.

After School clubs and activities are a real strength and distinctive feature of school life at Ashton Park School.

The school offers a wide choice of extra curricular activities before school, during lunchtime and after school. These include Sport, Dance, Drama, Music, ICT, Cookery, Study Support, Green Club, Climbing, Mountain Biking and D of E, just to name a few.

Each year pupils take part in a School Production, Arts Evening and Gym and Dance Display, all of which are well supported by parents, friends and family, and allow pupils to show case and celebrate their work.

All major games are played in House Competitions and in fixtures against other schools from Year 7 upwards. There is also the opportunity, after school and in lunch times, to take part in Gymnastics, Badminton, Dance, Rugby, Cricket, Football, Softball, Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Basketball and many more, often in response requests from pupils.

The Learning Resource Centre is open at lunch times and after school for students to work and enjoy quiet time reading, researching and preparing for exams. There is a thriving Computer Club which enables interested pupils to have additional ‘hands on’ experience of our computer network during lunch hours.

Please contact the provider for more information.
