Service Description:Elevation Networks Ncs Lambeth: From 5th October 2012.
Elevation Networks is a youth employment charity that supports young people to become more employable in the job market. We are working with the National Youth Agency to deliver this year's National Citizen Service (NCS) autumn pilots in 2012.
The programme is free and pupils have a chance to do a free residential trip in Yorkshire for a week, where they learn new skills. They can later use their skills to plan and run a social action project in their community. Past projects have included:
- Painting a community centre.
- holding a pampering day for young carers.
- Teaching the elderly how to play games on the Nintendo Wii.
It is a great opportunity for 16-17, or those under 25 and have a disability to put this experience on their CV and UCAS applications, and a chance to experience volunteering for the first time. The commitment from the pupils is outside the school time, so the focus is on committing time on the weekends and evenings after school.
