Career Move offers holistic career Coaching to families in temporary accommodation. Career Move is an outreach service and coaches clients to help build confidence, self esteem and motivation. The aim of this project is to engage those furthest from the job market and equip with them the goals, skills and confidence to move on to further learning to prepare them for the work place. Clients will also have access to Crisis’s Learning Zone which delivers all sorts of accredited training such as Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL, ECDL, Clait, Health and Safety, First Aid at Work and Food Safety in Catering. The Learning Zone is in Aldgate, but tutors are happy to come and deliver training closer to residents e.g. in a children’s centre, if there is a high enough demand. Crisis’s Skylight Project also provides tonnes of other courses like creative thinking, gardening, build a bike, hat making, design, tai chi, Pilates and performing arts. Despite the name ‘Career Move’ the project doesn’t necessarily encourage people to return to work immediately, unless it’s what they want to do and are ready to do. They will receive Coaching to establish their goals and address any issues around confidence and motivation. The majority of our targets are to refer clients on to training, further learning, education or specific work focused programmes. Career Move has been commissioned to provide Coaching to 16 boroughs East and South London, including Lambeth.
