Criteria for funded childcare for 2 year olds from families receiving additional support

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Universal Credit, and your household income is £15,400 a year or less after tax, not including benefit payments
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

2-year-olds can also get funded childcare if they:

  • Are looked after by a local authority
  • Have an education, health and care (EHC) plan
  • Get Disability Living Allowance
  • Have left care under an adoption order, special guardianship order or a child arrangements order
If your immigration status says you have ‘no recourse to public funds’, you may still get free childcare for your 2-year-old.

If you qualify under these non-financial criteria, please apply and then make a referral to the two year old application team by emailing Two.YearoldFunding@n-somerset.gov.uk

Your child can only take up their funded entitlement from the funding period after they turn 2.

    Funding periods:
    Autumn - 1st September
    Spring - 1st January
    Summer - 1st April

If you meet any of the above criteria please create an account if you do not already have one and apply below.
You will need to have your National Insurance (NI) number or National Asylum Seeker Service (NASS) number.

A “Not Found” result means you may not be entitled. Please check your National Insurance number and try again. If you believe that you meet the criteria please email Two.YearoldFunding@n-somerset.gov.uk
